About Customer.io

Our mission at Customer.io is to power automated communication that people like to receive. Today over 7,800 internet businesses use Customer.io to manage, send, and track the performance of emails, SMS, push notifications, and in-app messages. Unlike typical marketing platforms, Customer.io helps businesses increase relevance by using behavioral data: what people do or don’t do when logged in to a web or mobile app.

Department Summary: The demand generation team, part of the marketing department, drives revenue through two funnels: Self-Service (leads purchase independently) and Sales-Led (leads engage with sales). Success is measured by
the volume of qualified leads we deliver to sales, nurtured through events, partnerships, paid ads, email, and account-based marketing. Our team values a “bias toward action” — launching quickly and refining through iteration rather than
over-planning.

What you’ll do:

As a Sales-Led Marketing Intern, you’ll spend 8–12 weeks supporting key revenue-driving campaigns and projects aligned with our sales-led strategy. You’ll collaborate closely with sales and marketing team members, develop creative and analytical skills, and receive mentorship from leaders. Strong performance may lead to extended opportunities or future roles within the organization.

In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience with tools like Salesforce (CRM), Customer.io (automation), Sigma (analytics), and Notion (project management). You’ll conduct market research, analyze buyer trends, and
collaborate with marketing and sales teams to turn insights into impactful campaigns.
Here are a few of the projects you’ll work on:
Process improvement - streamline our rewards and gifting processes for our
account-based marketing campaigns
Data analysis - analyze CRM and survey data to distill insights into actionable audience, campaign, and content improvements
Lead generation - optimize our survey campaign motion to generate leads for our sales team

Qualities we are looking for:
Adaptability – You’re comfortable with change and can adjust quickly as priorities shift.
Attention to Detail – You take pride in delivering high-quality work and catching the small things that make a big difference.
Curiosity – You’re eager to learn, explore new tools, and figure things out independently.
Problem-Solving – You enjoy tackling unclear challenges and finding solutions through critical thinking.
Creativity – You think outside the box to help our brand stand out in a crowded market

Compensation: 70K-75K with comprehensive benefits package
