The Summer Marketing Intern will support the marketing team in developing and executing social media strategies, creating engaging content, and analyzing campaign performance. This internship provides an opportunity for hands-on experience in digital marketing while developing professional skills in content creation, research, and brand engagement.

The internship will be completed remotely and will require approximately 11 hours per week during the summer semester.

Responsibilities

In this role, the intern will assist the marketing team with a variety of marketing and content development initiatives. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns across relevant platforms.
  • Contribute to planning weekly and monthly content calendars aligned with marketing goals and campaigns.
  • Track social media engagement metrics to identify high-performing content, trends, and opportunities for campaign scalability.
  • Conduct social media marketing research, including identifying accounts, influencers, and posts appropriate for engagement and brand interaction.
  • Brainstorm and research ideas for original content that supports brand awareness and audience engagement.
  • Assist with writing social media captions that align with the company's voice and target audience.
  • Support the creation and editing of short-form video content for social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm new strategies to increase audience engagement and brand visibility.
  • Participate in team discussions regarding marketing initiatives, creative concepts, and digital trends.

Administrative tasks may occasionally be assigned as part of normal workplace operations; however, administrative work will not exceed approximately 30% of the intern's responsibilities, ensuring a meaningful learning experience.

Learning Objectives

This internship is designed to provide the student with a structured learning experience in marketing and digital communications. Through this internship, the student will:

  • Gain practical experience in social media marketing strategy and campaign execution.
  • Develop skills in content planning, creative ideation, and digital storytelling.
  • Learn to analyze engagement data and marketing performance metrics.
  • Strengthen professional communication and collaboration skills in a remote work environment.
  • Build familiarity with marketing tools, content development processes, and brand strategy.

The internship will include structured mentorship and supervision to support the student's learning.

The intern will:

  • Meet weekly via Zoom with managers for supervision, project review, and feedback.
  • Participate in observation and learning opportunities related to marketing strategy and campaign development.
  • Engage in reflection and evaluation activities as required by the internship program.
  • Request that their academic program provide any evaluation forms required for supervisor completion.
