About You

You love creating for the digital landscape and know your way around memes, pop culture, social media trends, and of course, chess. You’ve seen the way that chess can inspire and delight in YouTube, streaming, and social media, and want to be part of that push. You be relied on to know the goings on, are an exceptional communicator, and support the social media team on the kinds of moments that Chess should be a part of. 


What You'll Do

As a Social Media Intern, you’ll be responsible for roles ranging from meme creator, social-reply extraordinaire, pop-culture consultant, and helping to fill in any gaps for the wider team. You’ll be relied on for off-hours coverage (mostly on the weekends), and to weigh in for engagement and strategic considerations for our global social media team.

You will collaborate with our Social Media, and will be called on to:

  • Create, schedule, and advise on our daily run of memes, daily puzzle content, engagement posts, and anything else (partnerships, events, internal campaigns, etc.) on the calendar.
  • Sharpen your skills in the Adobe Suite and our scheduling tools (with our support!)
  • Seek and communicate opportunities for the Social Media team in sports, pop culture, and in the world of chess.
  • Learn the fundamentals of brand voice and engage in front of an audience of millions of chess fans.
  • Have a heck of a lot of fun.

Preferred Skills

  • Weekend Availability.
  • A love of chess and a strong understanding of what it’s like to be in the community involved with the game.
  • A strong understanding of pop culture, media culture, and influencers.
  • Deep knowledge of memes and meme culture.
  • Excellent communication skills and a sense of humor.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills working in a fully distributed team
  • Sense of ownership and responsibility

About the Opportunity

  • This is a part-time position
  • We are 100% remote (always have been, always will be!)
  • This is open to applicants who can legally work in the US
