Location: Remote (Preferred working hours aligned with Eastern Time Zone (U.S.))

Reports to: Communications and Storytelling Manager

Supervises: None

Role Purpose: 

The Communications & Marketing Intern will support the Communications & Storytelling Manager in executing and enhancing Hope for Haiti’s social media and digital engagement efforts. This part-time role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented individual familiar with social media platforms, digital-first visual design, and eager to contribute to a mission-driven nonprofit. The intern will help ideate, schedule, publish, monitor, and engage across multiple social channels to amplify Hope for Haiti’s mission and impact. Short‐form video production/editing a plus. 


Essential Duties and Tasks:

  • Assist with writing, scheduling, and publishing organic content (text, images, graphics, short videos) across multiple social media platforms in alignment with Hope for Haiti’s content calendar and brand guidelines.
  • Work to understand and uphold the Hope for Haiti brand voice, tone, style, messaging, and social media strategy.
  • Assist in monitoring social media channels for comments, messages, and follower engagement; respond or escalate appropriately; help boost follower engagement and community interaction.
  • Assist with social listening: monitor trends, hashtags, conversations, influencer activity, peer organizations, emerging platforms and features; identify opportunities for Hope for Haiti to join relevant discussions, take a voice, or amplify timely content.
  • Assist in short‐form video production/editing (e.g., reels, stories, TikTok/Instagram videos) and graphic design for social media, using tools such as Canva (and others as needed).
  • Participate in a brief virtual check-in meeting with the Communications & Storytelling Manager weekly during business hours. (Some work can be done in off-hours if needed.)
  • Ideate fresh content concepts and collaborate with the Communications & Storytelling Manager to refine and execute them.
  • Other responsibilities related to Marketing & Communications, as time allows.



Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of marketing/communications experience (can include internships, volunteer work, or employment).
  • Excellent writing skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Must have access to and use a personal computer (internship is remote; Hope for Haiti will not provide hardware).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, TikTok, Threads), emerging social media trends, platform features, algorithm considerations, and social media strategy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working remotely preferred.
  • Experience using Canva strongly preferred; familiarity with other design/editing tools is a plus.
  • Experience with short-form video production and editing is a plus.

Duration & Commitment

  • This role is part-time (12 hours/week) and remote.
  • Duration: 6 months, renewable subject to performance and workload
  • Must have the ability to have one weekly check-in meeting (30 minutes) with the Communications & Storytelling Manager between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST, Monday- Friday 


Compensation & Benefits 

The salary for this position is $18 per hour.
