Family Nutrition Center a Barkera Partner
Join the Family Nutrition Center Foundation as an Educator & Editorial Fellow to help shape the future of nutrition education for children and families. Under the guidance of Lucille Beseler, a nationally recognized dietitian and author, you will contribute to the development, editing, and integration of educational book content. This includes an existing infant nutrition title and a new project that teaches school-age nutrition through storytelling and character-driven narratives.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about child development, literacy, public health, or curriculum design. Your work will help ensure that health information is accessible, engaging, and educational for families nationwide.
Note:Β This position is recruited through Barkeraβ’, but the role itself is managed and assigned by one of our trusted partner organizations.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Support community engagement by contributing to blog content or educational workshops
- Research and write content for new childrenβs book on school-age nutrition
- Edit and refine story drafts with a focus on educational value and age-appropriateness
- Develop accompanying resources such as plans, activity sheets, or parent guides
- Review existing book content for accessibility and accuracy in digital formats
- Collaborate with illustrators, marketing team, and outreach leads to align on messaging
- Graduate student or upper-level undergraduate in Education, Public Health, Creative Writing, or related field
- Strong editorial and writing skills with a focus on clarity and engagement for young readers
- Experience developing curriculum or educational materials a plus
- Familiarity with tools like Google Docs, Canva, or Quark/EPUB platforms is helpful
